Important information before buying a cat: What you should know
Buying a pedigree cat is a decision for many years.
That is why it is very important to us that every family is well informed and ready to take responsibility.
Here you will find the most important points you should know before buying a kitten from our breeding
Price of a breeding cat
The price of a pedigree cat usually ranges between 1,500 and 2,300 Swiss Francs, but can be significantly higher for rare breeds or high-quality breeding or show animals.
Only an official pedigree confirms the breed affiliation – friendly words from the seller are not sufficient.
A cat without a pedigree is not considered a pedigree cat, even if it looks like one. Such cats are priced similarly to a well-cared-for domestic cat with vaccinations and veterinary checks, typically between 170 and 500 Swiss Francs.
The organization FIFe (Fédération Internationale Féline) explicitly prohibits its members from selling cats without a pedigree.
Adoption age
Our kittens leave our home between 15 and 17 weeks of age, depending on the veterinarian appointment. During this time, they learn important social skills from their mother cat and siblings. They are vaccinated, dewormed, and health-checked. Leaving them early may negatively impact their development—we make no exceptions.
Only with company
We do not give our cats away for single keeping:
-
There must be at least one other cat living in the household,
-
or the cat must have access to the outdoors and be able to have regular contact with other cats (e.g. neighbors' cats).
-
Alternatively, a second cat from our breeding or from another source can be added within a short time.
Thai cats are very social and easily suffer from loneliness. Cats kept alone will develop behavioral problems or become unhappy.
Sterilization
If you purchase a cat as a pet (not for breeding), sterilization is mandatory.
The procedure must be carried out by a veterinarian at the recommended age of 6 to 8 months. The new owner is responsible for the costs.
After the sterilization, a receipt or confirmation from the veterinarian must be submitted to us.
Sterilization prevents unwanted reproduction and contributes to a calmer, healthier life for the cat.
We only sell pedigree cats unneutered to registered breeders or exhibitors. Otherwise, we would be violating Swiss animal welfare law, as responsible breeding cannot be ensured without neutering regulations.
Adoption contract
After our initial contact and the confirmation of the purchase, the purchase agreement will be drawn up and sent to the buyer for signature. Upon signing the contract, a deposit of 50% of the purchase price must be paid. Once both steps are completed, the kitten will be firmly reserved for the buyer. This procedure serves to protect both the buyer and the seller.
Suitable home
We reserve the right to refuse the sale of a kitten if we feel that the future living conditions do not meet our standards. Every animal has the right to safety, attention, and care.
Waiting list
-
Registration on the waiting list is non-binding and serves solely to contact interested parties once new kittens are born and their gender can be determined.
-
The waiting list is managed according to the order of registration: whoever signs up first will be contacted first and will have the priority opportunity to choose a kitten.
-
After the kittens are born, the waiting list will be processed step by step. This may take some time.
-
If someone is no longer interested in a kitten, we kindly ask them to contact us so that we can remove them from the waiting list.
-
For current updates, interested parties can follow us on Instagram or Facebook, where we post regular updates starting from the cats’ pregnancy.
-
Future owners may already think about the name of their kitten. At the first visit, the kitten’s name as well as the planned pick-up date must be provided so that we can prepare the purchase contract and the pedigree. If the first visit cannot take place, the name and pick-up date must be provided by the time the kitten is 10 weeks old at the latest.
-
Each kitten’s name must begin with a different initial letter. This is a requirement of our breeding club and FIFe in Switzerland to ensure correct registration and the issuance of the pedigree.
